Engineering GREAT Solutions Location: U.S. and Europe Customer: Passenger train builder and operator Key benefits: Easy installation Case study Requirement One of the largest builders and operators of passenger trains in the world needed a new supplier for a solenoid valve used in a restroom water faucet. Their old suppler went out of business, leaving no source for this specialized component. Without it, they were faced with redesigning the whole sink, with all the costs and delay associated with design changes and customer approvals. What they really needed was a complete water control assembly that was compatible with the existing sinks, pre-tested and ready to install. Solution IMI Precision Engineering was able to combine a proven solenoid valve with a large plastic poppet valve on a custom mounting plate designed to fit the sinks already in service. The new assembly is engineered to significantly reduce potential leak points. Assemblies are tested and validated before they are shipped. And IMI Precision Engineering was able to deliver drawings, 3D models and initial product to meet the OEM's time frame. Based on a successful first article inspection, IMI Precision Engineering began shipping faucet assemblies ahead of the original schedule. Faucet control assembly saves OEM expense of total redesign Engineering GREAT Solutions CS-19 For further information visit www.norgren.com or call 1.800.710.7823
