4. Wiring:
The Part Present sensor provides single discrete outputs which is activated based on the material thickness
detected each time the gripper closes. Table 1 outlines the Sensor LED states and the output states.
PLC logic can be written to enable the part transfer, stop the part transfer and provide operator fault
warnings depending on the requirements of your application. During calibration the sensor establishes a
threshold to determine Part Present.
Part Present Output – This output will turn on whenever the detected thickness falls between
the lower and upper thresholds (a single sheet is present). This should be off while the detected
thickness falls below the lower threshold or when the gripper is open.
Note: Because this sensor is a 2-wire sensor, the current draw needs to be kept low. To accomplish this the LED's are not as bright as a
standard 3-wire NPN/PNP sensor.
