Engineering GREAT Solutions Requirement A company manufacturing equipment for offshore oil and gas extraction needed more power and speed in the compressed air systems that operated their processes. This required cost-effective filters with higher flow rates in order to reduce cycle times. The filters also had to stand up to the temperature, salt spray and moisture exposure typical of harsh offshore environments while meeting tough industry and customer standards. The OEM and its customers were also looking for ways to reduce operating costs with improved efficiency and greater design flexibility. Solution The IMI Norgren B38P stainless steel high flow filter/regulator, developed to meet this requirement, has a flow rate of 2400 liters/ minute, 40% higher than typical filters of the same size. The high flow rate combined with a redesigned regulation valve seat speeds up valve switching. Shorter actuator cycles and reliable pressure regulation reduce operating costs while the 316 stainless steel construction withstands the challenging offshore environment. And the higher flow rate gives designers options to increase speed or use larger valves and actuators without requiring a larger footprint for the filter. High-flow stainless steel filter improves marine oil extraction process Engineering GREAT Solutions Location: Singapore Customer: Oil and gas OEM Key benefit: High flow Case study CS-12 For further information visit www.norgren.com or call 1.800.710.7823
