Requirement
Setpoint Integrated Solutions is a leading
provider of repair services, integrated
process solutions, valve automation, and
instrumentation. They service downstream
industries such as refineries, chemical,
petrochemical, and pulp and paper plants, as
well as offshore oil and gas. Supporting those
industries required fluid control components
and manifolds to meet SIL standards for
safety instrumented systems. They needed
long-lasting, robust valves that could work
together to meet performance requirements
even under the tough operating conditions
of refineries and petrochemical plants.
Additionally, they needed an expert supplier
with the capacity to meet these stringent
requirements economically. The reliability of
the SIL 3 rating for automated valves on nitric
acid, ammonia and urea manufacturing was a
key requirement.
Solution
IMI Precision Engineering relied on their
comprehensive line of high performance
IMI Herion valves to meet Setpoint's
requirements. IMI Herion valves are
specifically designed for downstream and
process industries and are valued for their
reliability and safety certifications, including
SIL 3 ratings. Two different redundant
IMI Norgren valve manifolds (RVMs) were
selected to integrate the valves: the V81
series with bypass and the V82 without
bypass for different 1oo2 and 2oo2 safety
and availability requirements. These are
supplied in two, three and four-valve
manifolds to meet various redundancy
requirements. The safety of redundancy,
coupled with precision manufacturing by the
supplier were the keys to the selection of
these products.
