Idlers
An idler is a mechanical member
of a single or multi-axis electric
actuator system. It is built
from the base of an NS80 or
NS110 electric actuator but is
assembled without the internal
ballscrew drive system and
associated external drive shaft.
It does contain an external
carriage assembly with an intern
self-lube ball bearing rail system
found on the NS80.
An idler is intended to be used
as a supporting member and
provide high stiffness to single-
axis or gantry applications that
span shorter distances. An idler
allows movement of much larger
loads than with a single electric
actuator. It acts as the adjacent
or parallel support member of
an Norgren electric actuator,
providing greater load and
moment loading capability.
