Location: Singapore Customer: Oil and gas OEM Growth driver: Resource Scarcity Case study Requirement A company manufacturing equipment for o shore oil and gas extraction needed more power and speed in the compressed air systems that operated their processes. This required cost-e ective fi lters with higher fl ow rates in order to reduce cycle times. The fi lters also had to stand up to the temperature, salt spray and moisture exposure typical of harsh o shore environments while meeting tough industry and customer standards. The OEM and its customers were also looking for ways to reduce operating costs with improved e ciency and greater design fl exibility. Solution The IMI Norgren B38P stainless steel high fl ow fi lter/regulator, developed to meet this requirement, has a fl ow rate of 2400 liters/ minute, 40% higher than typical fi lters of the same size. The high fl ow rate combined with a redesigned regulation valve seat speeds up valve switching. Shorter actuator cycles and reliable pressure regulation reduce operating costs while the 316 stainless steel construction withstands the challenging o shore environment. And the higher fl ow rate gives designers options to increase speed or use larger valves and actuators without requiring a larger footprint for the fi lter.
