Subject to change without notice MC Series Magnetically Coupled Rodless Cylinders 2 Question Answer Do the new F-Plus cylinders interchange with the current series? The new Alternate Body and Hollow Rod series cylinders are a dimensional change for the current F-Plus series with similar options. The Three Position and Multi-Power series also offer the same mounting patterns, but the overall length is longer to account for the multiple pistons. Can I use the same repair kit on the F-Plus and the new Expanded Range cylinders? The new expanded range cylinders have different internal components so unfortunately they would not use the same repair kits as the current F-Plus series. Please see the repair kit list specific to the expanded range for part numbers. What is difference between the new Extruded Compact cylinders and the current 90000 series? The 90000 series and the new Extruded Compact Expanded Range have different dimensions. The main advantage of the new Extruded Compact Expanded range is that the dimensions interchange with other manufacturers of this product type such as the SMC NCQ2. Can I repair the All Stainless Steel F- Plus? Due to the IP69k rating on the All Stainless Steel F-Plus, it is recommended these units be sent back to the factory for repair. Standard repair kits are not available and any repairs made in the field will void the warranty and the IP69k rating. The Multi-Force and Three Position cylinders look the same. What's the difference? The Multi-Force cylinder has multiple pistons with the same amount of travel. In the F-Plus series, you can get 2, 3 or 4 pistons that are stacked on top of each other. When air pressure is applied to the extend port, internal hollow rods allow the air to travel to all of the pistons which means that the air pressure is reacting against the area of each piston. This is how the cylinder achieves more force than just a single piston actuator. The Extruded Compact Multi-Force cylinder only has a 2 stage option and air must be supplied to both ports to achieve the multi-force. The Three- Position cylinders allow you to order different stroke lengths for the different pistons. When air is supplied to the rear port, the first piston will move causing the second piston to go to its first position (called out by stroke A). Then when air is supplied to the center port, the second piston will travel the remaining distance (stroke B). In what type of applications would I need to use the alternate body versions? The Alternate Body series offers the option to get a cylinder with either a composite or aluminum body tube. Below are some examples of cases where a customer would want to use one of these options: - The body is thicker and would have improved dent resistance - More options for chemical compatibility - Reduced Friction - Combine the aluminum body with a rod scraper to help combat weld spatter - Combine the composite bushing with the composite body option for chemical resistance
